Simple Knife Disarming Technique

As promised here is the knife disarming video. Pay attention, this is the real deal. These are not showy difficult to master martial arts moves. These are the simplest most effective knife disarming techniques known to man.

As you saw in the video you never want to attempt a disarm technique until your attacker has committed himself by stepping forward with his back foot (if the knife is in his right hand the right foot is the back foot).
Knife Disarming: Commit To The Stab
Once he commits he has lost much of his thrusting power and maneuverability. This is the most crucial part of the technique.

When he commits to the stab you need to throw the cross block while simultaneously stepping back. The cross block redirects the stab downward and stepping back moves your body away from the blade. The combination ensures that you don’t get stabbed.
>Knife Disarming: The Cross Block
The cross block is great because like Randy says in the video it doesn’t have to be aimed perfectly to work. You have a wide range where you will still deflect and redirect the knife.

This one of the most important knife disarming techniques you can learn. It is crucial to practice this technique to get it right. You will need a training partner and a dummy knife. If you don’t have a dummy knife you can simply use a wooden dowel or some other safe item that resembles a knife.

Practice slow at first to make sure you understand the joint lock and gradually speed up the motion. The goal is to be able to use this technique full speed without letting the blade touch you.

Randy and Bob make this technique look easy (and in truth it is a simple technique) but don’t be fooled. They have years of experience. It will take some time to master, but it is well worth it. And even if you don’t have the time to spend to master it, simply being good enough can save your life.

  1. Actually think some of this advice very detrimental and would not work in real situations. The guy teaching the cross block either has not been in knife fights or has made a bad choice to show a cross block like that. Be honest and say in a real knife fight if you are unarmed you are able to use tactics to win but you will 90% of the time get cut and a serious one at that. That is reality. It’s silly to teach people otherwise or you are giving them a false hope and picture of a real knife attack. There are things you are able to do but this cross block one is absolute rubbish in my humble opinion. Sorry

  2. IF YOU WERE TO BLOCK ONE STRIKE YOU COULD APPLY IT AND IF THE SPEED WAS SLOW, MAYBE A DRUNK OR SUDDEN ATTACK BUT MOST ALL THE TIME THE PERSON ATTACKING WILL BE ANGRY AND RUNNING AT YOU REPEATING VERY FAST STABBING ……….. EVEN VERY CLOSE <=====/}}}}}
I don't care who you are or what level 9 times out of 10 you will get cut in a real knife fight or killed, that is reality. IN THIS SENORIEO ATTACKING THE POINTS AT THE ELBOW WHEN HE LUNGES WITH A FRONT KICK TO THE KNEE OR GROWING STOPPING THE FORWARD MOMENTUM THEN BREAK THE NECK BECAUSE YOU DON'T WANT HIM GETTING UP FOR A SECOND CHANCE TO KILL YOU AND YOUR FAMILY CRAZY WORLD WE LIVE IN. I THINK THIS NEEDS MORE SIENCE. REMEMBER KNOWONE IS GOING TO GIVE YOU THE KNIFE THEY ARE COMING AT YOU 100 MILES AN HOUR YOU NEED TO STOP THE TRAIN DEAD IN ITS TRACKS I DON'T SEE THIS HELPING . I HOPE YOU NEVER HAVE TO COME INTO CONTACT WITH A KNIFE UNLESS YOU HAVE A KNIFE AND HAVE BEEN TRAINED EXSTENSIVLY OTHER WISE AVOID ANY AREA THAT LOOKS DARK ANY PLACE THAT IS NOT KNOWN TO YOU USE COMMOM SENSE AND IF POSSIBLE NEVER WALK BY YOURSELF.

  3. I’ve been in and seen some really crazy street fights. I’ve worked as a bouncer and my main art is judo. What if the guy hides the knife?. What if he wants to do the “sewing machine” where he thrusts repeatedly. When you get cut and you will what do you do. I wanna see a video on that. Thanks

  4. This is a very good knife disarming techniques I just hope I never have to use it but it’s nice to know if I have to go because I’m stuck in that situation

  5. Great techniques. I’m in a wheelchair, and I can do most of the techniques taught on these videos. Thanks for the lessons.

  6. Thanks guys. Although I’ve managed to avoid getting into fights most of my life despite my bad temper, I am showing my 14 year old daughter these tips so she can defend herself if needs be.

  7. Old school techniques and I love it cause it works all the time and when applied correctly the attacker won’t stand a chance..Mr. Canales

  8. I used to use a belt (buckle sharpened), but that was always an iffy proposition, my opponent could get to me if he was fast enough and not intimidated. lol neve happened though. I like this way because you take the knife away from him, while I was mostly holding him off. This is more definite.

  9. If I had 2 good legs under me I could learn all these. Even at that there are a few that could come in handy.

  10. This is among several of the first defensive techniques my dad ,a Marine Corp Capt. Tought me when I was a kid. The fact that he wanted to take the time to prepare me for what ever may come along is something I look back at with great fondness, thanks for refreshing my memories of him and the moves he tought me.

  11. Nice simple lesson and an uncomplicated maneuver that can quickly be absorbed and stored into memory. I would have liked to see an overhead or overhand attack and horizontal strikes from the sides.

A downward strike angled into the defenders body from alternating sides would require a slightly different defensive tactic to avoid being slashed or stabbed as well as to capture the hand and counter strike the aggressor. I would like to see how these guys would handle the situation.

The knife fighting videos are to me the most needed. Criminals and punks use weapons even if you surrender, are weak, co-operative, offer them money or a chance to get away. They’ll punch, kick and beat a person up as if it was expected of them or normal procedure. Mostly they just like to hurt others for their own sick pleasure.
